I don’t know whether its the summer weather or I’m just feeling adventurous right now (I do have pink nails at present), but I am completely obsessed with Orange. Be it a coloured lipstick, the citrus fruit or even ‘Orange Is The New Black’, I love it.

When having a little gallivant off to Exeter at the weekend, I made the obligatory visit to ‘Lush’ to smell out something lovely for a pampering bath. You may have seen my previous post about ‘The Comforter’, the most beautiful bubble bar I had laid my eyes (and nose) on, one of my all time favourite Lush products. Something Orange caught my eye, the Comforters brightly coloured twin… (Mr) ‘Brightside’. I had to take him home.

Lush say “Hop in the bath with one of these uplifting bubble bars, Sicilian mandarin, bergamot and tangerine essential oils to help you look on the bright side of life! Its jazzy bright colours will create magnificent orange bath water, and the sunny citrus fragrance is sure to leave you jolly and refreshed.”

Boy, have I fallen in love! the most glorious zesty smell fills the room when you massage and crumble it under the running tap, bubbles by the bucketload and the sunniest of bath water erupts to brighten anyones day!

GET THE LOOK| Flirty to Fun

With the sun shining and the festival season well underway, I wanted to show how versatile the new Makeup Revolution palette is, so I’ve done two very quick looks perfect for a summer date night, and a fun festival night using the Dia De Los Muertos.

First is the Flirty Date night look, using the nude matt shades to do a gentle crease (excuse my hooded eyes) and using the rose gold shade on the lid. I also used the Smashbox black eyeliner pencil in the lash line to give a bit of definition. This look took about 5 minutes to do, and i think it looks really pretty.

Next, I felt a little daring… with Glastonbury just days away I thought why not have a bit of fun! I’ve never been to Glasto, but I would love to. And whilst spending the night partying away I would want to be wearing something like this that you couldn’t get away with just walking down the highstreet! And a great test for the brighter colours in the palette. So I created a bright Pink and Purple eye makeup look, with some neon dots of colour to make it a little more fun.

Are you off to Glasto? If so, what are your beauty essentials?

SWATCHES | Make Up Revolution Haul

On Tuesday night I was having a little trouble getting to sleep without being accompanied by boyfriend *violins please*, so I did what any self respecting beauty blogger does to pass time; browse twitter and purchase makeup! I came across a brand I hadn’t heard anything about before, MakeUp Revolution. Their twitter social media team were friendly and attentive which always makes a customer feel special. So, lets have a look at what i bought.

Twitter seemed to be buzzing with their newly released palettes, each with 12 shimmer shades and 6 matt shades. There are 5 in the newly released collection, I chose Dia De Los Muertos as the colours ranged from nudes to wicked neon yellow, the perfect party palette.

This palette blew me away! The pigmentation in the shadows were amazing, the colour payoff was so much better than I expected, and incredibly smooth in texture. I cant imagine when I am ever going to use the neon yellow ‘Live with Passion’, but you never know and especially with all the hype around Urban Decays Electric palette, what a cheap alternative to have in your kit.

(As shown in Palette)

For me, this is comparable to Sleek palettes but actually this is much better value with being just £6.00 each. I used the neutral colours and some of the shimmer purples to create a evening look for a friends BBQ, and they didn’t crease at all! Amazing. Very happy with this purchase!

Next up, you may of seen I went a liiittttle bit blush-mad. Buying 4 in total… naughty me. I bought two Powder Blushers (£1.00 each), in the colours ‘Now!’ and ‘Wow’, both pinky shades but ‘Now!’ has a more dusty hue. I also bought an individual Cream Blusher (£1.50) in the shade ‘Frambroise Shake’ which I love! Perfect for every day wear with a really blendable application. Last of all i bought something that really intrigued me, the Vivid Blush Lacquer in ‘Rush’ (£3.00).

(from L-R, Vivid Blush Lacquer ‘Rush’, Cream Blush ‘Framboise Shake’, Powder Blush ‘Now!’, ‘Wow!’)

Once again, they are suer pigmented, the picture shows one swipe of each product. Although I love the Blush Lacquer, you honestly need the tiniest amount to get a natural glow on the cheek, too much and you will have a clown-esque makeup look. Amazing value for money, I keep on thinking how did I not know about them sooner?!

Last product from my little haul is the Focus & Fix Liquid Concealer (£2.00) in the shade ‘FC 01 Fairest’ as I am very pale… This is such a massive contrast in quality from the other products. I feel a concealer should be high coverage so it can, y’know.. conceal things? This to me was like a tinted moisturiser. Although the texture of the product was lovely, it creased straight away and just didn’t seem to dry or set. Absolutely wouldn’t repurchase this, and with it being the last thing I opened it really disappointed me when everything else was so, so amazing.

Something else i really loved about MakeUp Revolutions products, are they packaging. People compare them to MUA, but i always feel MUA’s packaging is really shoddy and breaks so easy. Everything here has a quality feel to them, which we all love! They look far more expensive than they are.

MY VERSION| Nicki Minaj Pills n Potions

Pills n Potions

Some of you may have seen my previous post giving you a sneek peak on some makeup i did inspired by Nicki Minaj in her new music video for Pills n Potions. We all know Nicki Minaj as this bright and loud character, always with a wig and makeup none of us would wear outside the comfort of our own mirrors. However, Pills n Potions is different, its no party beat, its an emotionally charged song which is vulnerable, with a make up look to match. For Nicki, this is stripped back, with winged eyeliner, nude pink lips and only in some clips, wearing falsies. No full wigs, just some natural extensions. First time i’ve looked at her and thought, she’s actually pretty gorgeous!

Heres a quick overview of how i achieved the my version of her look;

Firstly, i primed my face with smashbox photo ready primer, to ensure i get a matte finish. Her coverage is quite high in the video, so i first used my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation with my real techniques expert face brush blending well before using a beauty blender to apply a bit more coverage. At this stage i applied a concealer a few shades darker than my skin tone under my cheek bones and blended out to create a contour. Next, i applied Maybellines anti age concealer under the eyes and blended out with my beauty blender. Nicki’s eye make up is so simple but so gorgeous, i used my Soap & Glory Solar bronzer to naturally define the socket, and then came in and softly blended some of Natural Collection eyeshadow in Chocolate to help define a little further. My next task was the heavily winged liner, i chose to use l’oreals gel eyeliner but i first mapped out where i wanted the flick to be with some brown eyeshadow on an angled brush to have the flexibility to get it right without ruining it so quickly, then followed with gel liner when i was happy. I used Benefits ‘They’re Real’ mascara for some length. I kept my brows fairly natural, just put a little bit of taupe coloured eyeshadow through them out of my Sephora ‘it’ Palette. Then lips, just some Models Own nude lip pencil and a small bit of EOS lip balm.

What do you think?
