Last night, I went out for dinner with Alex, the in-laws and some of their friends. Needless to say, plenty of wine and food were what I was looking forward to the most, but, I took some real effort and time in my make up. After a hard week at work, taking an hour or so to really enjoy doing your makeup is sometimes the most relaxing thing (well, it is for me anyway!).
I wanted to create quite a flawless base, so I thoroughly moisturised, and then primed my face with my new SmashBox Pore Minimiziner Primer then worked in my Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick all over my face, buffing it into the skin with myExpert Face Brush from Real Techniques and adding a little more coverage on my cheeks to mask a bit of redness. I quickly brushed through my brows, and gently filled in any gaps with my Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Concrete and my MAC 266. I went for (what for me) is a subtle eye makeup, as I was going for a bold lip. I simply worked MAC’s ‘Wedge’ into my socket, and a small amount of ‘Sketch’ on the outer corner, I used a pencil brush to smudge a mix of both on my lower lash line for a little more definition. Using my Sephora Eyeliner pencil in Marron Brown I smudged it into the outer lash line on both top and bottom. Curled eyelashes and really worked mascara into the roots to get some good volume.
Using MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15, I concealed under my eyes, around my nose and covered any small blemishes. I patted this in with my ring finger then buffed the edges with my Beauty Blender. Next I lightly powered my skin, before working in MAC’s lipstick in ‘Diva’ onto my lips with a lip brush. Once I had the lipstick on, I could judge how much blusher and bronzer I needed to warm my face.
And that was it! I loved this look, and I think it might make a more dramatic appearance in Christmas Party season!
Bobbi Brown just liked my picture on Instagram, having a massive silly fan girl moment…!

On September 23rd, I once again became one year older… I am now 23 and I can’t quite believe it myself. But, alongside the extra year I’ve gained in September, I also got quite a few lovely beauty bits. I’m in the process of doing some detailed looks and reviews with each of the products, is there anything in particular you want to see or know about them?
Occasionally at work, we get given vouchers as rewards for doing something marvellous for a customer, today I received a Boots gift card through the post and all intentions were to save it for a little shopping trip next weekend for my birthday. That didn’t happen, obviously. I opened the envelope, and went straight into town. Self restraint? Will power? Not my strong point.
Everything purchased had an intention behind it. I needed a new foundation, some eyelash glue and liquid eyeliner. What I really wanted was some Lip Liner, but being my local Boots, with the smallest of selections, the only concession that held lip liners were Max Factor. Of which they were all pretty grim.
So this is what I bought today;
-Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation in shade 51
-Seventeen High Drama Liquid Eyeliner
-Maybelline Big Eyes Eyeliner Pencil (double ended)
-Seventeen Solo Eyeshadow in Rose Quartz
They had an offer on with any two Seventeen products purchased you get a free mascara, but muggings over here forgot to pick hers up, so maybe I will return tomorrow for that.
As soon as I got back, the bag was emptied and the playing commenced. Using the products I purchased today, I created a purple smokey eye, with a winged eyeliner and finally got to use some of the new Lashes I purchased of Ebay for super cheap to give a little more drama. I used my new Bourjois Foundation and my Maybelline Color Elixir in Celestial Coral which you can see swatches and first impressions of here.
I think this is my first ever ’empties’ post…! It’s a mixed bag and I have used them in full as I actually really liked them all (with some minor critique)
Vaselines Spray & Go in Cocao Radiant
This is my second can, and officially my all time favourite body moisturiser! I’m so lazy when it comes to moisturising, but this gives me no excuse. Its lightweight and quickly absorbed into the skin. Love, love, love!
MAC Studio Sculpt foundation in NC15
This has lasted me just shy of 12 months, I love that its in a squeezy tube so you can get out every last drop out. I have loved this foundation, but i always found it never applied flawlessly unless i had just cleansed and exfoliated my skin, otherwise it would just cling to any hint of dryness on my face. I’ve used up the majority of this over the summer mixed in with my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel making a cheeky little tinted moisturiser on good skin days. I think I would repurchase this, but theres other things I want to try purchase first.
MAC Prep & Prime Skin Base
I really enjoyed this product, and I made a point of using this only on nights out (which are few and far between) as it did really help with creating a smooth, flawless finish. I’m not sure if it helped in making the makeup last longer as with a night out i cant say I’m ever out for 12 hours… so it wasn’t something I was judging! A good piece to add into the kit though, so yes, a repurchase is on the cards!
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in shade 52
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with this foundation. Its ended with ‘love’ though. When I first purchased it, I absolutely despised it. So much so, that I fobbed it off to my mum, and when I left my makeup bag at the boyfriends one weekend I resorted to sneaking back into her en-suite and claiming it back, and I’m not sure what had changed, but me and Healthy Mix got on very well. I just loved how natural it made my skin look. I’ve been scraping the bottle for about a week now, I’m going to need to buy it again!
Cutex Moisture Guard Polish Remover
This is always a staple in my nail kit. It smells much nicer than cheap polish remover, and it doesn’t leave my nails feeling horrendous. Needless to say, I’ve already got a new one on the go!
Morrisons Dry Shampoo in Fantastically Floral
I was getting my lunch one day during my break at work, and i could feel my hair getting limp and a bit slick at the roots, there was no Bastitse on the shelve and only Dove’s dry shampoo at £5 a pop. Then this jumped out at me, £1.59, I took the risk and I wasnt horrified at the results. It did the job, just left a bit more residue at the roots than the more expensive Dry Shampoos.
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
I have used this since i was about 17, and kept repurchasing it as i got so many compliments on my lashes. My taste in mascara has changed though and this is just too clumpy and wet for me now, maybe I will fall back in love with this in the future, but for now Lancome Hynose Drama, I bid you good day!
Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner
This was a magazine freebie at some point in life, I have really enjoyed it but it just wasn’t black enough for me. Ergonomically though, it was easy to use as it was so slim, it could create a gorgeous cat eye.
Benefits They’re Real Mascara
Only had a sample size, but LOVE LOVE LOVE! I have it on my wish list for products to buy!
I got quite a shock yesterday when a little notification popped up from WordPress, my One Year Anniversary of my Blog. How fast has the last year gone? And in reality, although I don’t post daily, I haven’t given up. Which is a massive deal for me, I’ve consistently kept an eye on this blog and nurtured it over the 12 months (something I’m awful at).
So Thank You to all my followers both new and old. Without the positive feedback and support I’ve had off the blogging community I wouldn’t be writing this post today because I wouldn’t of kept on going.
